Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
This is ridiculous, lets get on with it shall we?
Franklin County is back online, at
www.rootsweb.com/~vtfrankl/index.htm
and lists Mark as State Coordinator. Grand Isle follows shortley.

Please unsubscribe me from the USGenWeb mail list.
I am no longer the State Coordinator.
I have had major computer problems.
MY IP (the Plainfield Bypass) was sold to Connecticut River Net which, in
turn, was sold to Helicon Cable Company. They really botched the transition
and were almost inaccessible for about two months.
On top of that, I had a hard drive crash and am only now getting back in
operation.
When I finally got hooked up again I had something like 300 e-mails backed
up. <egad> It was overwhelming.
And, on top of that, I am a candidate for State Representative in
Montpelier. Friends asked me to run and so I am.
I am hoping I can get involved with the project again this winter.

All,
I had an idea for a logo for VTGenWeb. Check it out on the bottom
of the page at www.geocities.com/Pentagon/1861/vt-cw.htm
Down to business. Shall we assume 1 county, 1 vote?
If so, I believe we have 6 counties supporting Mark (seven if he
decides to vote for himself (but given the atmosphere of a
typical Vermont town meeting, we can't assume that until he
actually goes it <gr>).

I have heard from Bob Bamford - usgw cc rep ne/nc that Tom had been
contacted by phone by George Waller - usgw cc rep ne/nc. It was indicated
that Tom was resigning and I believe the pages to be turned over to the new
SC.
I contacted Mark Felone and he indicated that he would be interested in the
position as VT SC.. I so nominate Mark.
Is there any other cc that is interested in the position?
We may want to also elect an assistant SC. any interest...

I think that the VT CC's should be able to work out the changeover and we
will ask for assistance when needed.. Both Bob and George NE/NC CC
representative for the new board have also indicated they will help..

You will have by now gotten George Waller's message suggesting that you
hold an election for SC.
I'd like to offer a bit of advice based on watching a couple of other
states go thru this process, and that is that the SC election process
seems to run more smoothly if you're careful to have the CC in charge be
someone who isn't interested in running for the job.
If you need or want to pick an experienced brain, Patty Lindsay ran the
Ohio SC election and advised North Carolina when they did the same; her
email address is plindsay(a)infinet.com
Feel free to ignore both of those pieces of information if you don't
want them.<G>

Over the last several weeks posts have been sent out to this list of the
Vermont County Coordinators including on asking for a responce from all.
I may have missed someone but I only saw a responce from 5 of 11 listed
CC's representing the 14 Vt counties and no responce from Tom Sparrow Vt
SC. 2 of the responces indicated they want to unsubscribe form this list..
James A. Streeter -- lamoille, caledonia
K. Alan Streeter -- orange
Mark Felone -- Windsor
Celia Tomlin -- Washington
Tom Ledoux --Essex,Franklin,Grand Isle
Barry Trutor -- Addison
-------
Naomi Corey -- Bennington
Mal Bevins -- Chittenden
Steve Mason -- Orleans
Randy Forguites -- Rutland
Rod, at Morgan Hill -- Windham
Tom Sparrow --- state coord
David Young -- VT archive manager -- responded
What do you as the Vt CC's think needs to be done. IMO we do not want
people leaving but need to get the Vermont Genealogy Project moving forward
again.
I will keep this list informed of any message that I received as
the State Coordinator for New Hampshire until Vermont gets reorganized.

Mark and others,
The use of VTGEN-L can be a valuable tool for those of us working for
Vermont. But it apparent that some are unaware of what is going on out in
larger project. Before I let someone take over a page, I ask them to go
over the volunteer pages that are linked from the usgenweb page at:
http://www.usgenweb.org/index.html
Go down the page and click on the link for new and propective volunteers.
Check out all links on this page. Options for queries is linked here with
several options. Ask if you have more questions. I have some opinions
and a little experience with GenConnect.
You can subscribe to other USGenWeb Project mailing lists, linked from the
above page. There are a number of choices, but a word of warning, they
become quite bothersome and sometimes iratting. I do recommend staying
with VTGEN-L and trying usgenweb-l for a while until it drives you nuts,
but it is away to keep in touch and it is lots of fun to use the delete
liberally.
I can't remember what else it was I was going to say. So if you have more
questions let me know.
