Now, I haven't gone looking for this, but I've been noticing it in some of
the county sites I've been dropping by doing my own research.....
We are, more or less, at the first anniversary of the end of GenConnect as
a query system and the beginning of
boards.ancestry.com ---and yet I'm
seeing a *lot* of county sites out there that still point to GenConnect for
queries.
Some are clearly "the coordinator hasn't looked at their own pages in a
year"; some may be links deeper in the site that they overlooked; we've
all got pages that don¹t change much, if ever, I'm sure, that we don't look at
very often.
Anyhow, seems to me like a good idea to suggest that we all take a walk
through our pages and make sure there aren't any lurking links/references
there to GenConnect.....very few things make a webmaster look more
incompetent than featuring major links to a site that's been dead for a
year.
Just a thought.
