So sorry you're disappointed, Freddie - you have put many many years in this project,
keeping it going. I don't know if most of the VAGenWeb volunteers know you've been
doing it for almost 15 years or more. You lasted a lot longer than I did. <g>
As far as removing data from counties, that's why I always pushed the project I
started, the USGenWeb Archives, where data is stored permanently, for free, beginning on
Rootsweb, then Ancestry. When a few decided to move from Ancestry, I backed out of it, but
it's still providing free data, as a storage area for USGenWeb counties. If someone
gives up a county, the data is still there for them to help visitors to their site.
Btw... I still have data on the original site that I transcribed (mostly VA), and others
that have given permission to me to keep there.

Subject: [VAGEN] Disappointment
I am at present very angry, disappointed, feel totally betrayed by the
action a former county coordinator.
I have learned that the recent resignation of one of our fellow county
coordinators, with multiple counties, occurred only after all helpful
material had been removed from those sites.
These counties are now virtually worthless, and while I thought that new
hosts would have a relatively easy task to take over the sites, I now find
that the exact opposite is true.
Sorry, ... I just had to vent to someone.
Freddie S.
