It's easy to use, flexible enough to do what I need for my county webpages and others,
and easy to add new pages or jake other changes. It's also inexpensive and
downloadable.

Brett, Actually, I don’t know any, since I’ve always struggled through with my “HTLM for
Dummies” and more advanced books.
Does anyone on the VAGEN mailing list have any recommendations for Brett?

Mr. Spradlin, ok I got the FileZilla and my guy showed me how to use it. Now could you
recommend a basic web design program that doesn't require HTML knowledge?
Thanks so much,
Brett

The “usual” way that new or modified pages are uploaded is with an FTP utility (File
Transfer Protocol)
web pages are ASCII files with the html encoding how the pages should look. These then
are downloaded for modification using a program such as WS_FTP or FileZilla, then
modified, and uploaded again.
or the original kept on one’s hard drive, modified then uploaded each time.
FileZilla is available free, downloaded from
download.com
I’m sure your programmer can help you with that.

Thanks for all of that. I got the user name and password now where do I enter that info?
Or should I just send that on to my web designer friend and he will know what to do?
Take care, Brett. Sent from my iPhone

Mr. Spradlin, yes I would feel comfortable building a site. I have basic knowledge but
my best friend is a programmer so I will have him build the basic bones of the site.
I feel Dickenson County has a lot to ofer researchers and I am happy to get it out there
on the web. Peggy K. Fuller, the administor of the Buchanan Co page is in a Genealogy
club with me so I will get her help also.

Brett,
I’ve bugged the current host, repeatedly, and do not believe he will ever get this site
up.
A new host will have to rebuild a site from scratch. Are you able and willing to take
on that task?
Web space can be provide at
vagenweb.org, or rootsweb is usually willing to provide
space

Hello there, I"m interested in assuming responsibility for the Dickenson County Gen
Web page. How would I go about this? Currently it is down and I dont' think has been
working for 2 years. Please let me know.
