Mike,
I believe this may relate to the Calfpasture & Little Calfpasture
Rivers, in
Augusta and Rockbridge Counties.
The Calfpasture rises in the George Washington National Forest, in Augusta
County, just north of US250 and flows SSW through the towns of West Augusta,
Little Baltimore, and Marble Valley, turning easterly south of Goshen where
it becomes/joins the Maury River, south of Lake Meriweather. The Little
Calfpasture begins near Buffalo Gap, on the eastern edge of the GWNF, west
of Staunton, and flows SSW, through Augusta Springs to Craigsville, then
down the next valley east of State Rte 42, where it flows into Lake
Meriweather, then out again to join the Calfpasture river to form the Maury
River.
Regards,
Freddie S.

I'm trying to find the extent of the area in early VA known as the "Calf
Pastures". Nothing in the VAGenWeb looks like it might contain that
information. I think it might have been in present day Rockbridge county.
A geographical map showing the outline of the Calf Pastures sure would be
nice! Any info about early settlers in that area would be like cream in
my
coffee!
Thanks!
