Please forward this announcement to others! The invitation is open to all!
The Six Virginia Indian Tribes seeking Federal Recognition through
Congress will hold a POW WOW honoring Veterans and Treaty History on
November 12 & 13, 2005. The event will take place at the Upper
Mattaponi Tribal Grounds, located in King William County, Virginia, on
route 30 just south of its intersection with route 360 East. The hours
on Saturday, November 12, are 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM with the Grand
Entry at 12 noon. On Sunday, November 13, hours are 11:00 AM until 5:00
PM with the Grand Entry at 1:00 PM.
Featured will be Native American dancers, drums, crafters, and
demonstrations. In attendance will be many American Indian Veterans as
well as dignitaries from Great Britain traveling to the United States
just for this event. The Virginia Indian Tribes feel a special
connection with the British because of the early Treaty history that
acknowledged their sovereignty long before the creation of the United
States government.
Please bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for seating. Admission is
$5.00 for adults; $3.00 for children under six and seniors. Proceeds
will support the Virginia Indian Tribal Alliance for Life (VITAL).
