Folks, ... can anyone help with Homestead?
Beth,
I don't know if you can use Homestead, with the rootsweb
accounts ... I'm totally ignorant about that program.
Do any of the other CCs know the answer to that?
The FTP program I use, is very intuitive, and easy to use. ... It
has two windows, ... the list of files (in a folder) on my PC, in
one window, and the list of files on the remote computer
(rootsweb for example) in the other window. ... I highlight the
files to be transferred, ... and click a button to start the
transfer.
The only least bit difficult part (at first) was in setting up
the transfer with the host name, account name, & password. ...
Hi Freddie,
My name is Beth Bond, Nola Duffy recently made me a
co-administrator on the Dinwiddie Gen Web.
I know that most of the GenWeb sites are done by FTP, that is
not the way I edit my own genealogy sites I have I edit them
via Homestead where i have webspace and AT&T,etc.
So I recently downloaded an FTP program but I still am not sure
who to use it! Otherwise I would take over the Henrico site. I
have a lot of relatives in the area and can get info easily for
that area of Henrico, Richmond, old Manchester.
I have contributed information to several GenWeb pages, also I
run 4 Rootsweb mailing lists.
I go to the Library of Va. about once a week and when I have
time to I get information to post on the internet.
I was wondering if there was a short way to learn FTP or if I
could edit the page another way?
Thank you for your time.
God bless,
Beth
