Well
rootsweb.com,
ancestry.com,
genealogy.com,
myfamily.com and others are
all own by the Generations Network and they are suddenly very pick about
"Branding" Their name. They have a legal department filled with lawyers in
bad mood and they don't care if you are mother Teresa helping an orphanage
they will take legal action against anyone who doesn't follow the letter of
the TGN law. So the National Cord. Is wasting their breath
If you can't live with their branding then the best way is to get your own
hosting sites. Most plans are very reasonable now and not near as
complicated as it used to be.

Subject: [VAGEN] Rootsweb banner on VAGenWeb pages
Greetings,
Some folks are worried about a
RootsWeb.Com announcement that
they plan on forcing a "RootsWeb Banner" on all pages in their
webspace.
The National Coordinator of USGenWeb is being prompted to talk
with the RootsWeb brass, and this MAY not come about.
In any event. .... No one is forced to use rootsweb for their
VAGenWeb pages. You may move them anywhere you can find space.
But many sources of FREE webspace require a similar space for
their advertisement/aggrandizement ...
I'm going to wait and see if I can live with what (if anything)
gets added to my counties.
