I have a favor to ask on behalf of the USGenWeb Election
Committee. They have nine positions open and not enough
volunteers to fill the places. All of us receive so many requests
for our time that we often just discard them without a thought,
but please pause to consider how vital the EC is to the ongoing
existence of USGenWeb. Without them we have no way to elect a
National Coordinator or Advisory Board representatives. States
have no one available to help conduct their elections. And we
have no one to maintain a complete, current membership list.
You can see the list of openings at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgwelections/2007-ec/volunteerneeded.htm -
- plus a second position for one year in SWSC because of the
resignation of the recent resignation of a member.
Availability during the summer months, attentiveness to details,
and the willingness to work are the primary qualifications, aside
from membership in USGenWeb. Suggestions can be for members in
any XXGenWeb project. The only ineligible members are those
currently serving on the AB and those whose terms are ending in
December this year. The volunteer does not need to live in the
region s/he represents. I can say from personal experience that
it's a wonderful way to learn more about the project and to make
some new friends. The time you invest is amply repaid by the
traditional warmth and fun of the committee.
If you know of people who might be good prospects and willing to
serve, would you please send their names, email addresses, and
the URL(s) of their site(s) to the current EC chair Jo Branch at
bjcb(a)bellsouth.net or to the Secretary/Publicist Deb Gerischer at
Bare67deb(a)aol.com.
The committee would deeply appreciate your help.
Thank you.
Greta Thompson
