My wills, deeds, etc. are all mixed in with the one msg. board. What a mess.
My major problem is that those posting those wills, deeds, pensions, etc.
thought that they were posting the info on my county site. They believed
those postings would stay put. The posters are not interested in
GenConnect, RootsWeb, GenWeb, who owns what......they only want to retrieve
and get information. Therefore, they never went to
Ancestry.com nor
RootsWeb to read about mergers and who owned what and had assumptions they
should not have had. I, too, assumed the GC boards would always stay put
even after reading about the mergers.
Question 1: How do I retrieve the wills, deeds, etc. so that I can
permanently place them on my county site? There are 2177 msgs. for my
county. Wading through these and then sorting the categories would take an
enormous amount of time. Is there an easier way?
More questions: I no longer wish to manage these boards. They obviously
can be moved at will by the true owner/owners. I prefer to have my own
query board in the future, owned by me. I wish to delink from
GenConnect/Rootsweb boards and put up a system for queries but it will take
some time to do that.
Can I have a period of time to be without a query board while I search for
another system and then get it set up on my site?
Are query boards still a requirement for county sites now that so many query
boards are available through Roots and also GenForum and others?
If required, would a link to GenForum satisfy that requirement as a link to
GenConnect satisfied that requirement?
