Arcadia's a good group to work with. I've known a lot of people that
have worked with them over time, for anyone interested that is not
familiar.

Dear Ms. Lewis,
My name is Elizabeth Bray and I am the Virginia acquisitions editor at
Arcadia Publishing. After having some great success in 2010 with our
Virginia titles, my publisher and I were discussing some possible
towns/areas that would be great for our Images of America series. As
Brunswick is a county rich with history, we're currently looking for a local
historian or group there to possibly work on the photographic history with
us. I'd love to see if this is something that you/your group may be
interested in working on with us.
Just to give you a bit of background, our Images of America books include
approximately 200 historic images and captions, and tell the story of a
community from the birth of photography to the present day. They are
packaged in an attractive, affordable format, and appeal to a wide variety
of retailers and book buyers. We finance all aspects of book
productionâincluding the actual printing of the book to sales, marketing,
and distributionâentirely at our own expense. Authors, in turn, receive a
percentage of the net profits and are able to purchase discounted books to
resell at events and book signings.
I would love to speak with you about the creation of a book on Brunswick
County, as well as answer any questions you may have about getting started.
You can contact me directly at (843) 853-2070 ext. 395, or via e-mail at
[1]ebray(a)arcadiapublishing.com. If you would like a packet of information on
Arcadia, including a sample book from our Images of America series, I would
be more than happy to send it to you. As a side note, if you are not able to
take on the authoring of a book right now, but have any recommendations for
others with local historical knowledge and resources, please do not hesitate
to send their names along.
Thank you for your attention to this e-mail, and for your consideration. I
look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards,
Elizabeth Bray
