Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Just a note.. .anyone that was the admin for a GenConnect board or
boards should have gotten an e-mail that listed all your boards, with
the new URL's to the admin pages. You need to go there, login, and you
can then control the boards much the same way as you did with
GenConnect. Be SURE to copy and paste the entire URL from the e-mail
message. Some folks are getting line-wraps in their e-mail.
If you did not receive that e-mail, send a message to
messageboards(a)rootsweb.com and let them know.
If you had a board on GenConnect that never had a post, it was not
transferred to the new format, and you might get a "does not exist"
message. You will need to request that board as if it was new.
Another note.. NO DATA IS LOST. Some of the data boards are still being
transferred to the new format. There has been some concern among cc's
that bios, obits, etc. are not on the new boards. They will be soon.

Has anyone heard anything from/about Diana, CC for Roanoke Co???
Her email address is bouncing as "disabled" and messages left on her
telephone answering maching are not returned.
Puzzled,
Freddie S.
Freddie
thanks... I've lived here in the county for the past 7 years. Just retired
last Friday from the Air Force and will be staying here so I figured it was
about time to offer some assistance to Yvonne. I've known (via e-mail)
Yvonne for 4 years I guess. She and I are cousins many times removed on our
Brisbin family line.

Welcome to our happy group, Nate ... <smile>
If you have a link to Prince William Co on your pages, the URL has changed
slightly.
It's now www.rootsweb.com/~vapwilli/index.html

Thank you very much, Linda and Jane. That was quick! Yes, it can be
misleading, but not uncommon I find. I do appreciate your quick
response.
I recently changed my e-mail address and have been working with the
support people at RootsWeb this morning. We've managed to change a dozen
locations before 9am! ;-)

Hi, Linda,
How do I search for anything in Portsmouth, VA? It's not in a county, I
don't know how to describe it's charter, but the city is independant of
any county. It's not listed in your County or Independant Cities link.
I'm searching for someone b.1917, d.1986, evidently both events in
Portsmouth.
Would appreciate any help.
