Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Delighted to hear you are in VA, Linda! Would like very much to
meet you and other VA volunteers. I can get to Richmond, if I
have some lead time to plan ahead. Please do instigate a
get-together!

We will miss you, Sue! I personally want to thank you for stepping in
when VAGenWeb was formed, and for helping us make this one of the best

Thanks Rena, and all. Now that I'm living in VA again (which feels real
good, btw), I'll organize a get-together for the VAGenWeb volunteers. It
would be nice to have a quarterly dinner. We could start in Richmond,
and hold them throughout the state other times.
Maybe... we can persuade Carmen, Freddie, Jim, and some of you other
out-of-staters to plan to join us. ;)

The daily uploads are caught up, and I apologize for the sporadic way
they were appearing.
As most of you know, I just made a major move from CA to VA. After my
husband, Larry, passed away in November, I have been planning to move
back home to VA when schools let out. At this time, I'm still in
temporary quarters, but my online time should get back to normal later
this week.
The announcement: I've been offered a part-time position on the staff of
Rootsweb, to help with the NON-genealogy Communities, and have accepted.
This will not affect my volunteer work with the USGenWeb Archives or
VAGenWeb, other than delegating more. ;) <ducking>
I know most people don't feel the need to announce a new job, but since
I've been *accused* of being on the payroll of Rootsweb a few times
before, I thought I would go ahead and get on it. <g> My "payroll"
status begins this month, and not in 1997, 1998, or even two months ago
when it was "announced" by a <humor> famous </humor> reporter.
In all seriousness, I am honored to work with Brian and Karen and the
other RW staffers. B&K came to Larry's funeral in November, and offered
to help me out by putting me on staff then, but I needed to wait until I
knew if I was coming or going. Although I still don't know if I'm coming
or going, I do need an income. <g>
If anyone has any questions about what I'll be doing for RW, please feel
free to ask.
