Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
While you're spring cleaning your pages... don't forget we have a
birthday coming up. June marks USGenWeb's second birthday!
Pam still has the logos online:

VAGenWeb's birthday is June 15..the same month as USGenWeb.

Yvonne, can you make sure the KS folks get some of these messages that
should be forwarded to all cc's? It has come to the Board's attention
that the KS cc's feel like they're being kept "out of the loop" when it
comes to national information. We certainly don't want them to be left
out of the election discussions.
If any of you others are cc's for other XXGenWeb's, please make sure
those xxgen-l@ lists have posted the election message.. *both* of them.
<g>
Thanks,
Linda
It turns the person that filled out the form for a vacounty account on
Rootsweb thought she was requesting information on those counties for a
school project.
Linda
It's come to my attention that a couple people (unknown to me) have
requested accounts from Rootsweb for several VA counties.
I have no idea if they want a personal county page at Rootsweb, or
what??
I will send them a message to let them know that those counties are
already taken, and write privately to those of you with the counties to
see if you know these people.
Linda
btw, that file isn't complete - i am working on that....

Hi Virginia Genealogy folks.
In case you're interested, I just wanted to let y'all know that there is
a service on the net that offers FREE 11 megabytes worth of space to use
for a site you may wish to create.
It's at http://xoom.com/home/
I am in no way affiliated with this group, other than the fact that I
have a free membership with them. But this seems like such a generous
provision, that I thought some of y'all might want to know about it.

Thanks Todd,
Page and Shenandoah are available. Have you visited the census pages to
see what this is all about? :)
You can download the census software at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgwcart
I'll need your snail mail address so SK can send the book to you.
Linda
Just check this out.. sign up.. it's free. Actual grants online for some
states.
It's a government site. Doesn't have VA or KY online yet, though. :(

I see that neither Charlotte nor Mecklenburg are mentioned :(
One reason I asked, months ago I started the 1840 Charlotte (without
committing myself). I really didn't feel pushed, as the 1840 template was
not ready. With the SK offer, I thought GREAT I can finish at home with a
book and not have to keep going to the library, but luck was not with me.
And I am still not committed- taking a breather after the 1850.

Wonderful! I am happy someone is doing the 1810 Charlotte.
I went to the http://www.usgenweb.org/census page to see recent signups
and gee, a major overhaul. It really looks nice. I never did find the
signups. Found a link to "explanation of status buttons" but I couldn't
find the list of counties to see the status buttons. I thought I made a
full circle, but must have missed something.
