Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Nancy and Pam of KYGenWeb are working with Patty of CCH to make it
compatible.
One of KYGenWeb counties using it:

Apparently, the visitor can customize the page themselves.

Does "compatible" mean this system can be included in CCHelper Central?

_The Hornbook of Virginia History_ says:
"OLD CHURCH, in King and Queen County, was built between 1724 and 1729 as
the Upper Church of Stratton major Parish. Abandoned in 1768, it was
thereafter used by various denominations until a Methodist congregation
acquired possession of the building in 1842."

There is also an "Old Benn's Church" aka St. Luke's in Isle of Wight Co.
one or the oldest surviving church structures in Virginia.

I've received a request from a genealogical society to be part of
VAGenWeb/USGenWeb. If any of the following cc's are interested in
working with them - getting their page at Rootsweb, etc. -, please let
me know:
Barry McGhee
Sue (two counties included)
Yvonne (two counties included)
Nancy
Jim
Thanks,

Lansdowne is in the center of Urbanna. From Historic Bldgs. in Middlesex
Co., VA 1650-1875, p. 51-53 (not my reference - this came from a recent
message to the Lee-L.) Notice spelling difference, but I assume is the same
place.

Warner Hall is in Gloucester County on County 658 3.8 miles from its
junction with County 614, this just off US 17
I can find 614, but not 658 on my DeLorme Atlas. 614 intersects US 17 in
the vicinity of Whitemarsh. Which from the description would put Warner
Hall in the vicinity of Selden

Hi All,
Has anybody noticed a problem with the latest version of Netscape (4.0 I
think) in how it handles the mail to: command that most of us have buried in
our web pages?
When the query autobot died, I changed all my query pages to have a mail
to: command that includes a subject line. Everything worked fine with old
netscape, but now I am receiving complaints from people that it doesn't work
and I noticed that the new Netscape just doesn't work in that capacity. It
also doesn't appear to have a place to configure mail preferences like the
older versions did.
Has anyone found a work around for this? Is it really a problem or was my
computer just having a bad day?
Thanks for any help that might be offered!

If you haven't seen the new USGenWeb page, take a look:
http://www.usgenweb.com
While I have you attention, you've probably seen the messages from
Randall Haight, advertising mailing lists and webspace for genealogy
pages. He has registered the domain "www.genweb.net". That site is not
affiliated with The USGenWeb Project in any way.
This is another reason to keep the *space* out of USGenWeb or VAGenWeb.
Please, when corresponding with visitors to your pages, always refer to
our project as the xxgenweb and not "genweb".
I apologize for not sending more news your way about the project, but
it's pretty much rolling along on its own. There are dicussions on the
Board mailing list about reestablishing a monthly announcement
newsletter that will also feature county sites with new ideas, etc.
If you are coordinating a county for other states and are not aware of a
state mailing list specifically for XXGenWeb county hosts, please
encourage that state coordinator to take advantage of the lists that
have been set up for that purpose. (like this one)
A list has also been established (again) for state coordinators only.
It's been very quiet, but any information posted there should be
forwarded to the state mailing lists.
Thanks to all of you for doing such a great job for VAGenWeb! I would
like to have a back-up person that could take over VAGenWeb in case I
can't continue. Freddie Spradlin is assistant coordinator now, and I've
offered (asked/begged/suggested) that he take over if necessary, but he
said he would rather remain as assistant.
Linda
I haven't been able to reach Becky Falin for several months, so I have
no choice but to put Russell and Scott Counties up for adoption. Before
I announce it anywhere else, are any of you interested?
A couple months ago, I added an automatic query form for Russell County,
and will do the same for Scott unless someone takes it over right away.
Thanks to all and Happy New Year!
Linda
