Wow! Interesting stuff, Sharon. Great job!

And again.... thank you Family Tree Magazine

It is, Denise, even if it's not my family.
Two things ... newspaper articles about the accident
and recovery of one family member. Adult male who
was helping reshingle the church and then the toe-holds
gave way. 4 men falling and scrambling. 3 had minor
injuries but the one who hit the scaffolding on his way
down (about a 60' drop, I've seen the church many times)
and broke some vertebrae (1930's).
Other was about the elderly widowed mother walking from one son's
farm to the other son's. This was in 1865, Iowa. They didn't know
she was missing until a day or two later. They never found her,
just pieces of her clothing that had been ripped apart. They think
wild boars got her, but were never sure. How awful!!!
This poor woman endured quite a bit during her lifetime. Husband
coming and going, leaving her 8 kids to raise and a farm to tend to.
Husband finally was committed to the state sanatorium (mental
hospital). Lost a couple of babies in infancy and a daughter to
appendicitis when she was 16. Poor, poor woman.
Books also include photographs!
