I do have access to all SC and ASC email addresses; however, when dealing
with what I've been going through for more than a year and recent cancer
surgery, it was difficult for me to manage. And although some of you may
think it is an easy task to sit and personally resub every SC and ASC to a
new list, those things sometimes take a back seat to a surgical procedure.
However, thanks for your nice comments and how YOU ALL would do things.
I guess I shouldn't be irritated by some of these comments coming in, but I
handle many things behind the scenes to fix problems with members of the
entire project that are not public information. I may be contacted more
privately than any other NC of the project in the past, but I don't know
that for sure. As I have stated before, one individual email led to my
needing to take over an entire state, Minnesota, and getting it back on
course; and then two other states. So, if you all don't manage to get
yourselves subbed to a particular list as to what is or is not going on
with the Board list (when I do post there properly and don't make what I
often refer to as a human mistake), that is up to each of you.
We now also have a national mailing list; however, when I do send something
out through that required list, I still receive complaints from people who
state they want to be a part of this project, but then complain when they
receive important information about the project. To that, I say, tough! I
love this project, and to those who don't, I'm not trying to drive folks
away, but there are other projects who don't have rules, or at least don't
have the bylaws and requirements and suggestions that this project has.
While being able to attend the 2016 NGS Conference in Fort Lauderdale,
although I was not able to be there the entire time every day, I met with
the Executive Director of NGS who said to me, The USGenWeb Project is
hugely important in the genealogy world and we are thrilled that you were
able to participate in this conference, and that they are able to provide
us now also with a booth at the 2017! !) And this all occurred after the
time that I was diagnosed with cancer, and after the cutoff date for
obtaining a refund, and he still wanted to work with us. I was also sought
out by Billion Graves' CEO, as well as other large projects, and also sat
with the lovely Pat of Dear Myrtle fame and had a long conversation. They
were all thrilled we were there, as were many other researchers who
proceeded to tell us how much they use and love USGenWeb and are thrilled
that we are celebrating our 20th Anniversary, and are still coming back and
trying to keep adding more materials to our sites. Many stated how often
they use our project.
This all emphasized to me what an impact we, as a whole, can make on the
genealogy world. It's the first time that the leaders of other large
genealogy companies and projects have told me about their use and
experience of USGenWeb.
So either, please allow me to be human, allow the AB to be human, and stop
casting stones, and learn how to make requests, instead of complaints. And
I am so glad that I had a fabulous experience at the conference prior to
hearing the complaints submitted in the past 24-48 hours. And if you don't
like this post, I'm sorry. I've seen many that I don't like as well that I
haven't replied to. However, it is also great to see fabulous posts and
commitment from people like Mike "Dino" Peterson and others who are very
committed to the project and have constructive comments and ideas and
requests, instead of whining and complaints.
Thank you.

Some one should *always* have access to the subscriber lists.
NC should have address's for ALL SC and ASC, then those have access to
all their people.
No excuse.
This is an organization.
Thats what we do, organize.
We have lists of so many things we forget to list the people who are the
project?, some place ( just in case) a communication line breaks?
We have messages on our computers with all the people who reply,
that includes their address, its simple to spend a little time back
tracking messages and gleaning at least the ones who are replying.
And using 2 lists now that rw is up again, leaves out those who
never joined the google list which it apparently showing as some are
saying now.
Just seems, those who can do; arn't.
