Please help the museum by forwarding this to your interested friends. The exhibit runs for one month only. The art is beautiful. We don't want anyone to miss it!
During November only, the La Vernia Heritage Museum is sponsoring the Chihuahua Art Trail, a fine art exhibit showcasing over forty works of art by professional artists from Adkins, Floresville, Adkins, Sutherland Springs, Stockdale and La Vernia. The museum will be open every Saturday in November from 10am to 4pm. Each artist has included at least one work of art depicting historic La Vernia. The works of art are for sale, with a percentage of the proceeds benefiting the La Vernia Heritage Museum.
The new museum, which opened October 18, changes exhibits as frequently as monthly. The Chihuahua Art Trail is their second exhibit since opening. Exhibits in the museum include the history of the La Vernia Volunteer Fire Department and the Suttles Pottery. It houses the original pumper cart used for firefighting in La Vernia in the 1890s. A six minute movie tells the story of the pumper cart.
The museum is located in the old firehouse building on Highway 87 and FM 775 in the center of La Vernia. It is the first public museum in La Vernia. The museum is operated by the La Vernia Historical Association, a non profit organization. Every staff member is a volunteer. Admission is free; donations are appreciated. For additional information and museum hours, visit http://www.laverniahistory.com/ or call 830-779-7095.
