I have checked with many family members and the genealogy is generally reported this way:
The founder of our family was Wilhem von Stein. One of the family has the family crest. He
arrived from Prussia to Mexico with his wife Luisa Krone and one male child. There is some
question as to whether there were two boys. Anyway, Wilhelm changed his name to fit in
and his name was Guillermo de la Piedra, keeping it close to the translation. His son was
named Augisto de la Pena (change in name again)He married Macaria Chavera. If you go to
Rio Grande City, you will find his grave with this information on it: Born 1828, Alemania
and died Nov. 22, 1911. His wife is buried there also. They had three children, Agustin
Pascual de la Pena born 1858( I have all the dates if you would like them), Emelia de la
Pena, and Silverio de la Pena. There is a drug store in Rio Grande City with his name on
it. It is now a registered state historical site. Silverio married Eliza Howard and they
e child. She died about the age of 12 from a brain tumor. Silverio was killed in 1894 and
Eliza married Juan Hinojosa. Emelia married Leopoldo Reynaga and they had two boys.
Agustin married Mercedes Laurel(Laureles)They had the following children(I have their
Agustin, 3rd, Mauro, Amelia, Jesus, Aurora, Julio, Elvira, Emelia, Silverio(my great
grandfather) Eva, Jesus, Elooisa, Ramiro, and Antonio. I have a family picture of all of
them together. I have been very fortunate to have other family share their pictures with
A lot of confusion comes in because each generation has repeated the names in their
families. I think there are at least 4 maybe 5 Augustins', 3 Silverios', 2
Auroras'(one of them was my aunt) Silverio(son of Mercedes) was married three times.
His first wife was my mother, Adelina, his second wife, Doretea Ramos, they had three
children, I believe. One was named Silverio, Jr., one was named Eva, and I am not sure of
the third name. All of this information has been placed in a book written by Mr. Escobar.
He was writing about his family and in researching papers in Mexico, found we are related
through marriage many years back. And yes, you have family members in Weslaco. If this is
a match, we are first cousins!
