Hi List, Does anyone remember a Palmrose school? I think that it was
one of those one room schools that kids had to walk miles to in rain,snow or
whatever. My mother,who was Joycelene LOWERY back then,attended that
school. She is 74 now.
My mother,along with her sisters,Bea LOWERY & Jessie LOWERY, use to sing on
a local radio station. That was before T.V. came into our homes. They lived
on route 7 in Dublin. Charles Wyly on the list probably knows. He's great,
and seems to be a walking history book of Erath Co. My grandfather,Frank
Harrison LOWERY, use to play the fiddle for many square dances I'm told. He
also raised watermellons and peanuts and other things to sell as Charles
Wyly mentioned. Mom said that they lived next to the big KING ranch. They
all had to pick cotton there to help out with the family budget. Mom said
that the dust storms were terrible. They all moved to El Monte,Calif.
around 1941. Grandpa & Grandma came back to visit relatives often. Some of
the relations are;
