The Newcomewn Ram air water pump of 1600's to today was-is a water pump
in which flowing water built air pressure in an upright air chamber ,
and pressure would trip a valve, allowing air pressure to push water
uphill into homes or stock tanks-or some light irrigation.

and thanks to the correction in spelling of the name. The above is
Columbia Viking Desk encyclopedia. Where in Erath County do I
the Newcom family- or was there a family by that exact name in
Maybe I am thinking of Newsom families of Duffau- Bl;ack Stump
and Iredell and Venus, Texas areas.
If Erath County Andersen (Scandanavian or German spelling)
from Illinois changed to Anderson - the English spelling, then
could easily be changed to Newsom or Newcom Spellings based on
could have added t such cnanges , like my Wyly and English Wiley-
Willey-Wylly-Willie-Wyly changed in England before William The
and Shakespearian English standardization.. Father and Sons had
spelling from generation to generation in earliest England,
Ireland. One or two Andersons are buried in Selden (Hatchet)
Duffau Road and creek surronded by Wyly dairy.
Also check through a Google search engine for Newcomen and his
inventions- 10 pages of at least 10 references per page to the
inventions. I was told that one of these pumps was working near
betweeen Cleburne and Alvarado , possibly near the Keene, Texas
Southwestern Adventist University in 20 th century. Some engines
ran on solar heat and pump action converted to rotary flywhels to
grist mills or whatever. They ran slow but smoothly with no exhaust.
Some in Johnson County also had a house and well on a hill which
siphon pipes feeding downhill to 2 or 3 other homes. We used to have
moveable Siphon pipe to draw water from a Cypress tank to cattle
troughs. We started it with a deep breath through our mouth- many
Seems the main problem with the water- atmosphere pumps and rotary
1. Efficiency dropped on the engines when cloudy. This should not
affect the pumps without rotary conversion. It was and is
pollution free and fuel free and would be wonderful for
Government projects to supply water to tribes worldwide without
electricity or fuel.
2 On the pump, trash in the intake pipe would affect the action
pressure- Valves, and if they did not close, no water. Some type
resistance flow filter should cure this.
3. These pumps were stationary due to size and weight.
4. They would need protection from hard freezes.
5 Dealers would be reducing sales to sell a pump which did not wear
