I remember dad talking bout and reading about Bowman Ridge community and
some Bowmans are in Txerath Archives, if they are running now. The spring
could be at the valley joining the ridge or at the top of it. Erath
county is strange that way. The spring at the source of Hill Creek, Chalk
Mountain, is at the top of the mountain behind Odom Church and
overlooking Glen Rose across Somerville County to the Johnson county
prairie and Comanche Peak Neuclear Plant on Squaw Creek. This spring is
at the top plateau of the mountain and runs a constant stream out of a
hole in a solid honeycombed rock and over a waterfall. The dropoff into
the pool below and the cave is almost invisible a few feet from it and
one could easily fall over the ledge in dark or twilight. It runs down
the mountain and several miles past Seven Knobs into the Brazos above
The only Bowmans I know personally were born in Alabama, now live in
Hewitt, Texas and own dairy Queens in Grosebeck or Teague and Hewitt. He
is a Baptist Minister and now is song leader in Robinson Baptist Church,
Robinson, Texas. She is retired from the Waco VA Hospital. They are in
Waco- Hewitt phone book.
Hope this helps.
