Subject: [ERATH] Re: Grand Ole Erath
Just a note of warning, I know most books with genealogical
contains some erroneous information (including my own) but I have heard
several people complain about errors in this particular book. My own
experience sent me on the wrong track when I was new at genealogy.
Grand Ole Erath said that my great grandmother, Lettie Roberts (Haile Fox
, came to Erath as a bride. Well, that's according to how long a woman
remains a "Bride". She was married in Tennessee in 1849, arrived in
Texas in Fannin County in the late 1860's, in Comanche County, Wilson
Community in the 1870's and moved over to Erath in the early 1880's. So
if you consider a woman who has been married over 30 years a "bride" then
it might have been accurate, but as I beginner, I was frantic because I
could not find them in the census. Eventually I found a clue that led me
to the correct county in Tennessee but since she didn't die until 1930 I
had expected a more factual account.
