World War 1 Draft Registration Cards
There were three types of cards used for the draft cards Card A Card
Card C..original idea ha. Card A was used for 5 June 1917 registrations and
Cards B and C were used for 5 July registration.
Bascially they asked for Name, home address date of birth, if natural
naturalized , alien or declared intention. If not a citizen from what
country are you. What is present trade. employed by whom and where. Card C
asks address of business. Name of nearest relative. Card A asks if father,
mother, child under 12 or sister or brother under 12 solely depend on you
for support. Card B asks race. Card A asks if you claim exemption from draft
and what grounds
They all ask height, build, color of eyes and hair and if you are missing
eyes or otherwise disabled.
Card A and B state if lower left corner is cut off it is a person of
descent Card C asks it on the card itself.
