The Johnsons north of Hico in Johnsville School District and later in
Selden School District were descendants of Albert Sidney Johnson of
Civil War ( Not the Albert Sidney Johnston who is in most Textbooks.
This Johnson ranch had a few hundred acres between Hico and Selden,
some near Duffau. They had a calf riding and such when I was a small
wee pup. As a boy, Dad would spend nights with these Johnsons of Erath
County , with Cliff, W.C., Jot M.E. (Mrs Gail) Stephens of Selden- Sims
During Worl;d War 2, when women were filling the slot on the farms in
absence of soldiers, we were threshing on Riggs- Hollis Thresher on the
Johnson home place, I and other school kids and mothers and grandparents
made up the 25 member crew to run the Thresher, dad was pitching up
bundles and I would Sao out with him on the bundle wagon. Dad dropped ice
down Elmer or W. C. Johnson's collar- in hot weather. He ran dad down
and picked him up and rolled him over his shoulders and sat him down
gently behind him both dying with laughter.
Were these Johnsons in Erath County related to Clif's family in Hamilton
