The only non-genealogy use of interent information I have run across has
been adopted children seeking their birth parents or birth parents seeking
their child given up years ago... and collection agencies hunting for
skipped debtors. I actually had one call me pretending to be an old
boyfriend of a name on my genealogy list wanting her current address and
phone number! I told him to write me and I would forward to her parents but
he never did and I had two others call asking about the same person finally
admitting that she had skipped on some major time debts!
Any use that would harm anyone on my list is of concern to me. I think that
limited information for those still living is appropriate. Maybe just names,
but no dates or places. I may further edit my recent tree to offer more
protection. But then when looking at all the interent search facilites out
there to gather information on anyone... is anyone ever really protected.
