Yo TNGenWeb Tennessean's,
GeoCities, Flashnet, Tripod, all have their drawbacks. Like banners
(advertisements) --- some that even pop up on your screen.
AOL is notorious for its service (or lack thereof).
Our server USIT does not require money or banners --- yet! But the
writing is on the wall.
Then there is Rootsweb where certain restrictions apply. Still, it is
good free genealogy site.
The other alternative -- one that has not been discussed --- is buying
our own dedicated server.
We would have no problem with the technical side of this (thanks to Jim
Cole). But this would require cash contributions from all of us.
It is understood that to some folks, $20 might be difficult, while to
others, $50 would be OK.
So the question is, would you folks support this effort and contribute
to the project?
BTW, if you want to reply privately, please direct your response to
Nancy Cole <ncole(a)coffey.com> or to me, Fred Smoot <dogtrot(a)well.com>
Thanks for your time.
