Hi folks,
AOL has always been notorious with their service, it was a good service 3
years ago when I first signed up. It is also one of the few services that
don't require a credit card to bill -- thus many people who don't have
credit cards at least can get online. It's a great learning area on how to
get around on the internet. However, once there for over a year, if that
long, it should be time to move on. <VBG>
Using USIT, gives you unlimited space, but there are only a very few people
who have upload capabilities, due to security measures. Fred Smoot
mentioned "writing on the wall" regarding advertising banners on USIT --
this may be true, and has been mentioned by USIT, but nothing has become of
this situation as of yet.
Rootsweb, you have unlimited space, can FTP your own files, only limitation
is that they ask you not to upload GEDS to the site, as they do take up
quite a bit of room (this restriction applies to the free sites).
Fred mentioned other "free" sites, but with these you have to put up with
their advertising, etc., also limited space.
Our own dedicated server would be nice, and getting one would have to
depend on all of you.
