A note to TnGenWeb hosts using AOL's server!
Please be aware that AOL's FTP is down. If you try to upload a page using FTP
or AOL's MyPlace not only will it fail but your original page will be deleted
from the web. I caught it after losing my mailing list page. Everthing else in
Union County is working fine. I do have may pages backed up so I can get it
back up. The problem is that AOL has no idea when the problem will be fixed.
I know AOL has several good features that make us want to use their server
space instead of space provided by TnGenWeb and US Internet, but this is close
to the last straw. We may have made a mistake. But I will say this..if I have
to change to USIT I have no reason to stay with AOL as an ISP. I may finally
break free!
When I contacted AOL the second time...I had cooled down...the first one I
shall not print here is a transcript of our conversation.
AOLTechZOO: Welcome to Member Help Interactive. Please present your
question, and I will be with you in just a moment. :)
AOLTechZOO: Welcome to Member Help Interactive ! How may I help you today ?
Thagamizer: When will I be able to upload in MyPlace?
AOLTechZOO: We are having a system problem with that.
AOLTechZOO: I do not have a fix time yet.
AOLTechZOO: I would try again tomorrow. :\
Thagamizer: Yes I know my page is gone
AOLTechZOO: It will be back.
Thagamizer: Can anybody at least tell us why this happened?
AOLTechZOO: I don' thave that info, just that we have had some trouble with
FTP today.
Thagamizer: Wow ok hmm best you can do I guess thanks anyway.
AOLTechZOO: Thanks for stopping by. :)
And we get to pay another $2 for this!
Seriously though if you have a page of any kind with AOL don't bother it until
this is fixed.
