In late 1996 or early 1997 John Rigdon, the then NC brought up the
idea of incorporation as a subject to discuss stating that he had even
done some preliminary checking in to such. You should have seen the
uproar that caused. This current couple of incidents was small in
comparision. You'd have thought that John was turning the country over
to the Communists lock, stock and barrel.
SO the idea was dropped at that time. I'd not be suprised that if a poll
were taken today that the CCs would split in a least two factions
again.

I personally don't see a problem with incorporating the National
Project as a non-profit. I think most people agree that the CCs, SCs
work is their own creation, that the Project doesn't own a thing except
possibly the national page (and that would be owned by it's creator
unless he/she gave it to the project).

The USGenWeb Project Board will need to get some sort of organization
if
they intend to remedy their current situation. They will need some
money
too. (BTW, is there really a Board?)
<bold>
From what I understand the 'Board' is comprised of the NC, the
head of
the other projects like Tombstone, Census and the like and a member from
each of approximately 5 regions in the country.
