The East Tennessee Historical Society will host a free First Families of
Tennessee "How-To" Workshop on Saturday, May 23, 1998, at the historical
society's headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The workshop is specifically designed to assist people who have hit "brick
walls" while working on their First Families of Tennessee application but
should be helpful to anyone researching their family tree in 18th-century
Tennessee.
Cherel Henderson, ETHS associate director and First Families of Tennessee
project coordinator, will lead the workshop from 10 am until 12 noon in the
East Tennessee Historical Center's Lucille S. Thompson Auditorium (600
Market Street). A map is located at
http://www.korrnet.org/eths/map.htm
Topics and questions to be addressed will include: "How to prove an
ancestor was in Tennessee before 1796," "Acceptable sources to prove
descent," and "Advice on completing the FFT application"
No advance registration for this workshop is required and admission is
free.
Membership in First Families of Tennessee is open to anyone who can prove
descent from an ancestor who was in Tennessee by the time of statehood in
1796.
