Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Greetings all,
We are establishing a new official mailing list, TN-all(a)onelist.com.
Soon, you will be subscribed to this list and when that happens, you
might receive a reply request from ONElist. If that happens, you will
need to reply to activate your subscription.
One of advantages to ONElist is that it has a survey option. We will be
able to conduct polls limited only to our subscribers and no one will be
able to cast multiple votes. If a person votes more than once, then only
the last vote counts.

I will say this once, and only once. I will then reply to nobody, concerning
this subject, NOBODY. I understand everyone's frustration on these topics.
But by the wording of the above post I must assume, since I am the one and
only person to take a poll of anything, that it was directed at me.
The only people that have bi--hed about these polls seem to be the ones who
do not favor the direction they have taken. Nobody b__ched when our leader
threw out these topics to the list, they only b__ched when someone else gave
opinions. Yes, I realize that totally dishonest people could vote in ANY
poll, 2 or 3 times. I must question how a couple of you became aware of this,
anyway. However, I (personally) have always been of the opinion that I could
trust my peers on the TnGenWeb.
DO NOT...Question my honesty. You may call my graphics horrible or question
my spelling. But I will not tolerate my honesty being questioned by ANYONE.
If someone has a problem with me, tell me up front and address the e-mail to
me. Do not have others do it on your behalf!
That is the end of this subject. You can all e-mail all you want about what I
have said, but I will not join in.

One of our elected officials ask me to run the following poll. I was asked
long before the announcement of the new list server, that had nothing to do
with it. I think it is just refreshing to see that at least one of our
"officials" is interested in what we think.
Take the poll at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnunion/poll.htm
Thanks
Why were we told the mail list was being moved? Because it was being archived
and everyone could see it?
I ask you all to read the following paragraph from Onelists terms of service.
This may spark new controversy. Do I think the discussion should go to
tnchat? No! It was announced here so lets discuss it here. This affects all
of us not just the ones subscribed to tnchat.
<<from Onelist>>
ONELIST is providing Member with a capability to send email to multiple
recipients via the ONELIST mailing list system. In addition, ONELIST is
providing Member with the capability to create and manage mailing lists. All
email messages sent through the ONELIST mailing list system may be archived
and viewable on the ONELIST World Wide Web site.
To read the whole terms of service go to:
http://www.onelist.com/info/tos.html
Further, in all of the free and for charge mail lists I have seen, there is a
clause that says they are archived.
I say let the majority rule and leave the mail list where it is! We are all
adults and know better than to post our real addresses or social security
numbers.

Today the Tennessee Supreme Court ruled that adoptees 21 years old or older
may now have their adoption records opened with the provision that they
will not use the records to contact their parents without the parent's
permission.
Adoptees may contact - Post Adoption Services - Nashville - 615-532-5637.
As of this evening the state has 2000 requests.

Thanks to all of you that responded to the Williamson Co. site
access problem.
About half of you said that there was no problem and about half
of you said that you could not get to the site.
It seems that some of us have to have the "www" in the address
while others do not. I guess it's how our various ISP's have
their system set up. This is the case with aol I think.
So if you have these kinds of problems in the future, just
remember that the "www" needs to be included for some people to
access our sites. I guess this means that we should always put
the "www" in the address whether we think we need it or not.
If you had a problem connecting to the Williamson Co. site, put
the "www" in the address and see if that lets you get there.
Cheers and thanks to all.

Hi Gentle Folks of TNGenWeb,
I have been offline for 24 hours.
Getting my youngest son married.
Getting my grandson out of the hospital.
Then installing a new OS with the help of my older son.
I came back to the mail with a little trepidation and found....
Only our gentle spirit and bits of business to take care of, which I will
be doing today since I have taken a day off to watch the baby. If you are
waiting for me to do something, it will be done soon.
Thank you each and every one.
Nancy

Greetings to all from Williamson County.
If you want to see what a page looks like that has the USIT,
USGenWeb and the TNGenWeb logos on top check out my new page that
is now up.
http://tngenweb.org/williamson
I kinda like it but the USIT logo overpowers it a little. Too
bad it can't be smaller. But then that's the price we have to
pay for our free space on USIT. There are advantates and
disadvantages in everything we do. Just have to see what gives
us the most advantages.
Cheers,
Noel

Actually, I could tweak it a little bit, if there is a strong feeling that
it should be smaller, not much because it must be readable, but a little.

Hi folks,
This was on another list. You might enjoy Brenda's site.
"I have created a new site: The Genealogy Funny Papers. If you need
relief from the stress of trying to find your ancestors, visit my new
site and laugh a little."
URL is http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~tracers/thefunny.htm
Nancy
Hi folks,
Yep, this stuff is supposed go to TN-Chat, but people have a hard time
remembering that.
Please take the political rhetoric there.
I will be using this list for a bit of good news and merry making this
weekend <g>

Didn't I read somewhere on Rootsweb where it is possible to suspend an e-mail
address? That is to say they can't post to your list unless you OK it, even
if they are subscribed?
I have a person that made a totally rude remark. I'm sure they probably
didn't mean to but just the same. They were rude to a lady with a bit of a
problem that the rest of us, on the list are aware of. All of my old members
know this lady and her problem and we help her.
I hate to ban anyone (never have), but I won't see anyone make fun of this
lady. I sent this person an e-mail outlining our policies in such matters.
Maybe that will correct their behavior and nothing more will need to be done.
Thanks,
Chip
