Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Rootsweb seems to be having problems again. I know several have notified
Doc, so when he checks in he should fix whatever is wrong.

I left the house on Sunday about 10:30 AM PDT, did not get home until
Monday about 1:00 AM PDT -- if you have written to me regarding
something I will get to you tomorrow morning. The same goes with any
files that were sent to me for uploading, they'll go up tomorrow
morning as well.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

I know I'm bad for not sending in new things on the Union County page but I am
proud of this one. The Union County page is now searchable. There are two
search engines on the main page now. One spiders and index's my pages on
tngenweb.org and the other my pages on rootsweb.com. Now people can come to my
site enter a location or surname and find any page I have done that contains
these names. Have a look. They're at the top of the page right now as is my
habit with all new things. Ultimately they will move down to utilities.

So many of the Stewart County list subscribers and researchers are starting
to come to mine and Cheryl's aid in transcribing and sharing for the website
that we have added a little "award" and recognition space to the site.
Hopefully, more will realize through this that we are very open to
contributions. We do give contributors credit at the site of the posting,
but this might make it a bit more noticeable and special for folks. Thought
some of you might like to adopt the idea. You can see what we did at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnstewar/index.htm and if you have any suggestions
for making it better, let us know.

To Athol and the list,
I offer my apologies to the list. I misread the file name and my answer
did not fit the question. These mishaps occur when I try to walk across
the room and chew gum at the same time. So I offer again my apologies
for any confusion that I might have caused.

I am resending this because I goofed and left out Van Buren
County, which was a part of White Co., TN.
THE HERITAGE OF WHITE COUNTY, TENNESSEE
A new hardbound book by the White County, Tennessee Heritage Book
committee and Walsworth Publishing Co., Inc. to be published in late
1999
White County's Heritage Book committee is preparing a unique
collection of topical and family sketches.
We invite all residents, former residents, and those with roots in White
County, Tennessee to submit a family household history of 500 words
and one photograph to be printed free! (Also invited to participate are
residents of Cannon, Cumberland, DeKalb, Putnam, Van Buren and Warren
Counties, which were once part of the original White County.)
This is a rare opportunity for you to be a part of history.
Interested persons may request brochures:
Contact by e-mail Fred L. Clark <clark(a)blomand.net>
or Ph: 931-657-2813
or mail request to :
White County Heritage Book Committee
P. O. Box 723, Sparta, TN 38583-0723
Fred, I wasn't talking about the Graphics page. I was talking about the
/adoptco/ page. They have added the requirement to have the logo after the
thing with Mary and Pam. That is what I was talking about. I have known
about the graphics page all along.

Hello everyone from the Great Hot State of Texas!
Humphreys county votes for TNGenNet and 1/2 of Perry votes for TNGenWeb...
KIDDING! Actually count both for TNGenNet...heat has gotten to me.
On the serious side...I am in Dallas for two weeks, will return after
August 9th if for some strange reason you need to email me...just go
right ahead.
Have laptop will travel. I don't get to my email daily but about
every other day or so. Sorry the queries will be delayed (unless I
can download HotDog lite (if there is such a thing) or some other
program to use on my laptop. Unfortunately my laptop doesn't have
a cd rom in it.
So there is no confusion...Perry (1/2) and Humphreys for TNGenNet.
Alisa
Athol,
Actually, the pages of graphics were added many many months ago, it was
announced to the list, it was my idea to create the graphic directory,
so as to help find things. The green logo, I made, you can find it on a
number of county pages such as Monroe Co. The face logo was made from a
photo made by my wife at Ellis Island NY. Bridgett made the gold logo
which is on the main TNGenweb page.
If the pages in the graphics directory show a recent date, it is
probably because Bridgett has been changing things to update the
instructions because of the change in URL to tngenweb.org.
Here is my old copy of the page with old URL, before Bridgett did the
link fixies. At the bottom, my date for my version is 22 Jan 1998.

Fred and all, I see that this has been added to the /adoptco/ the 19th of
Jul. How convenient. Or was it done later than that even, and that date put
on the page. Does our SC and ASC make all these decisions on their own and
not consult the rest of us in TNGenWeb. This was not done until the episode
with Mary. There had been no such requirement before that. All the
decisions are being made by them and not even conslting the RC's. Well I
have about had it. Something is going to have to be done.

TNGENWEB Project, Sumner County, TN:
http://www.tngenweb.usit.com/sumner/
Greetings all.
On our "TNGenWeb County Host Guidelines" page we will find the
requirements of page county and page identification.
http://www.tngenweb.org/adoptco/
"Your main page will display the USGenWeb logo, and optionally a
TNGenWeb logo. If you do not wish to display a TNGenWeb logo, the word
TNGenWeb must be used, along with the name of your county. (For example:
Greene County Genealogy, a TNGenWeb project)"
We do not have a specific TNGenWeb logo that is the one and only
official absolutely must be used or the page police will get you logo.
We do have three logos that may be used and they can be found on this
page.
http://www.tngenweb.org/graphics/page9.htm
If you do your own graphics, you may create your own graphic. If you
would like, we could put it our graphics directory for others to use
I have a very large (in Ks) graphic on my Warren County page.
http://www.tngenweb.org/warren/
The text is: "Warren County Tennessee
A TNGenWeb Genealogy Home Page"
It was created from the "corner card" (return address design) of an old
southern envelope from the Civil War era.
If you have an interest in this, I could make a custom version for your
page. I could perhaps reduce the size so the download time is also
reduced.
Other custom TNGenWeb logos could be made, the only limit is the
imgination. Please ask. There is no cost for TNGenWeb logos. Such a
deal.
