Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
The following counties do not have a host, and their URL would be,
http://www.tngenweb.usit.com/countyname
If you have links other than that to the below counties these need to
be changed.
Fayette
Hardeman
Lewis
Marshall
Perry
Tipton
Williamson (Darlene had to resign to family responsibilities
recently)
Six counties w/o a host out of 95 is not bad. However, if you know of
someone who might be interested in hosting one of these counties
please send them my way <VBG>.
You could also help out by posting a notice on your page, if you
will, a note of some sort indicating that there are several counties
still w/o a host and then put a link to
http://www.tngenweb.usit.com/adoptco/
I would appreciate this very much.
Thanks,

We have a change in county hosts for Bedford County. Charles Reeves
and Jane Crowley have taken over this county. The new URL is
http://www.tngenweb.usit.com/bedford/ Charles has Putnam Co, and is
also a co-host fwith Jane on Clay County.
Richard White, former Bedford County host, is also the Alabama SC,
and this will free him up some more. He is still the host for
Davidson.
Macon County has a new "main" host, Shelta Shrum (gshrum(a)nctc.com).
Barbara Hutchinson, who was soley maintaining Macon, had to drop as
host to Macon due to health reasons, but has agreed to be at least a
co-host for the county (with limited responsibilities until she feels
better). I am happy she is staying on with the project. The NEW Macon
county page is located at http://www.nctc.com/~gshrum/tngen.htm
Please make sure if you are linked to these two counties that you
correct the link on your pages.
Good luck to you folks, and thanks for your contributions to the
TNGenWeb Project.

Hi folks,
This list has been very quiet lately, hopefully everyone that was
affected by Mother Nature are on the road to recovery.
For those with their sites on USIT, if you know you have files
sitting on the server that you are not using, please let your RC or
me know what these files are so they can be deleted. Just because we
are allowed unlimited usage does not mean that we can "store" files
on the server. Any files that are not in use need to be removed.
If you do not know what is in your directory at this time, please let
me know and I will send a list of what is in your directory files.
Along these lines also, if you are using graphics that are
"community" graphics, such as the state logo, the flags, backgrounds,
or icons that everyone seems to be using, these should be linked
through the graphic directory so those graphics can be eliminated
from your directory. You can go to the graphics directory and check
out what is located in there (although a lot of the smaller icons --
arrows, pointers and such, although there, are not on any of the
pages I don't believe, a page of those will have to be made up for
those). The graphics directory can be found
http://www.tngenweb.usit.com/graphics
To link to a graphic from your pages the URL would be <img
src="../graphics/xxxxxx.gif">
Please check your files or ask for a list of your directory so we can
slim down some of our disk usage, I'd like to have this done by the
middle of May if possible.
Thanks, y'all are doing super, and appreciate all that you do for the
project to make it the site to come to if you are looking for your
ancestors in TN.

going blind from looking at it.

Hi Lynn and all,
Just a reminder to new folks and folks that haven't gotten a round tuit...
Anyone can also use Surname Helper, developed by Patty Lindsay, the
creator of CCHelper. The TNGenWeb autobot generates all the necessary
codes and it only takes a few minutes to set up your counties. Your
queries are then included in the database and you get a link to a search
YourCounty page.
You don't need to be using CChelper to use the system.
We have 14 counties registered so far. For instructions go to:
http://cgi.rootsweb.com/surhelp/mgrhome.html
Choose
How to Get Your non-CCHelper Site Indexed
TNGenWeb autobot queries are addressed by name as we were the guinea pigs
for the system when it was in development.

This message was originally sent out on he 18th, but apparently didn't make
it through the server.
Dear All,
First, thank you all for your concern over the tornado which caused such
damage in Wayne County, TN on Thursday evening. Thankfully, it did not hit
Collinwood, but regretfully, the storm did cut a path of destruction
running in a northeasterly direction from the Lutts area to Ovilla on US 64
at the Wayne/Lawrence line. Three people lost their lives in the storm and
many more were injured. Clean up continues and the National Guard is still
here along with Emergency personel from Lauderdale County, AL and other
places.
The tornado is reported to have cut a path between 1/2 to 1 miles wide and
some 75-85 miles long, apparently dropping down in a hop scotch fashion
through the county and in neighboring Hardin on the west and Lawrence on
the east.
I haven't seen any of the news reports since we were without electricity
from a little after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday until after 4:00 A.M. this
morning (Saturday). Thus the reason you haven't heard from me before now. I
finally was able to download the mail this morning about 11:00 A.M. Prior
to that time I couldn't get on-line.
Things are going to be a little hectic around here for some time. There are
still power lines down around the county and some telephone lines are down.
The Red Cross and other agencies stepped in and opened up a shelter in
Waynesboro for those whose homes have been destroyed.
Again, thank you all for your concern and your prayers.

Hi Fellow Coordinators,
The TNGenWeb Project, People of Color in TN is growing and growing. The
response and support is great. The project is broken down into several
resources, TNGenWeb, TN, USGenWeb, and General US Resources.
However, we only have 11 TNGenWeb counties on the POC site. Please will you
let me know if your site has African American resources on it, so we can
create a link to your page.
African American resources come in many forms. For example many people have
wills on their pages, these often contain slave names, so do bible records. Do
you have census records which list the slave count? How about marriages, bill
of sales, cemeteries? These are all provide valuable information.
The following TNGenWeb counties are on the project:
Anderson, Bradley, Clay, Gibson, Giles, Hardeman, Hawkins, Haywood, Madison,
Sumner, Wayne and White.
Would you please take a minute to look over the below list. If you have
anything to add or delete please let me know.
Thanks so much and have a great week,

Good afternoon all:
I didn't notice my message to everyone reference the storms in Wayne
County. It was sent out to so many people that the server is probably
still getting the addresses out.
We are fine, although we didn't have any electricity until Saturday morning
at 4:00, and even after the power came back on I couldn't get on line until
nearly 11:00 A.M.
Due to the storm and subsequent power outage, I don't have a lot of updates
to report this week. Thursday, before the storms hit, I managed to get up
the cemeteries in the Olive Hill Quadrangle (only two of them and they are
small). And I added the 1866 voter registration list for the 10th and 11th
Civil Districts of the County. This list is all that survives today. The
original book and list were destroyed in the 1972 fire which burned the
courthouse in Waynesboro.
Also today I've added the transcription of the 1881 - 1883 death records. I
transcribed these and originally submitted them in 1978 for publication to
the old "River Counties" quarterly which was published by Jill K. Garrett
of Columbia. Then in 1987 the transcription was revised, checked and
rechecked, and included in the Wayne County, Tennessee Cemeteries and
Death Records Book. Thanks to the help of John H. Scott, III of Texas, we
now have these death records on-line. They are listed under the County
Records Page and the url for the records is
http://www.netease.net/wayne/1881_1883_Death_Records.htm
If you have submitted queries in the last week or so, or other information
for Wayne County, I'll try to get to get the queries posted in the coming
week and hopefully the other information as well barring any power outages.

This is too rich, you must share this with the USGenWeb-All list. You might
