Delmas C. Moody
Delmas C. Moody, 78, of Venice, Fla., died Monday, March 13, 2006, at
Venice Regional Medical Center.
Born June 4, 1927 in Carter County, Tenn., he was a son of the late James
M. and Cora Anderson Moody. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by three sisters, Destomonia Campbell, Dezmonda Eggers and Delores Shaw,
and four brothers, Devona Moody, Dallas Moody, Dennis Moody and Dorris Moody.
Mr. Moody moved to Venice 23 years ago from Detroit, Mich., where he had
worked as a mechanic for Champion Spark Plug for 31 years until his retirement
in 1981. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 2010 Labor
Supervision Company, and was a member of the VFW, Venice Post. He was of the
Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Henry Moody, of the home; a brother,
Daigel Moody, Butler; a brother-in-law, Cecil Henry, Newport; a sister-in-law,
Edith Moody, Elizabethton; special niece, Nancy Hunter, Frederick, Md.; and
very special friend, Herbert Schultze, Venice, Fla. Several nieces and nephews
also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Moody will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday,
March 16, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie
Campbell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Ronnie
Campbell. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8
p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the home of his
great-niece and her husband, Michelle and Jeff Crumley, 200 Campbell Road,
Butler, at anytime. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m.
Friday, March 17, in the Lakeview Cemetery, Butler. Everyone is requested to
meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday for the graveside service. Active
pallbearers will be James V. Moody, Howard Campbell, Glen Shaw, Doug Hatley,
Michael Moody, Richard Moody and D.L. Moody. Honorary pallbearers will be James
M. Moody, Bob Moody, Herb Moody, Daigle Shaw, Rick Eggers and Paul Campbell.
