This indenture made this eleventh day of June in the year of our Lord
one thousand eighteen and fourteen between Andrew ERWIN of Asheville,
North Carolina, of the one part and John EMMERSON of the county of
Franklin, state of Tennessee, of the other part;
witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and
sixty dollars to me in hand paid, the receipt and payment is hereby
acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened [sic], conveyed,
and confirmed, and do by these present, grant, bargain, sell, alien
[sic], convey, and confirm to the said John EMMERSON, his heirs or
assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and
being in the county of Franklin aforesaid and on the waters of the
boiling fork of Elk River a part of a few thousand acre tract granted
to Henry MOUTFORD;
beginning on a Post Oak the North West corner of David MARTIN's one
hundred and sixty-five acre tract in ARMSTRONG's line;
thence West with said line one hundred and forty-five poles to a Post
Oak, said ARMSTRONG's corner;
thence South one hundred and twenty poles to a stake in LANGHAM and
RICHMOND's East boundary of their two hundred acre tract;
thence East one hundred and forty-five poles to a Post Oak in D.
MARTIN's West boundary line;
thence North with said line one hundred and twenty poles to the
beginning;
containing by calculation one hundred eight and three fourths acres
with all and singular the rights, profits, [?]oluments, vendettaments
[?}, and appurtenances of, in , and to the same belonging or in any
wise appertaining to the only proper use, benefit, and [?]oof of him
the said John EMMERSON, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said
Andrew ERWIN for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and
assigns, do covenant and agree to and with the said John EMMERSON, his
heirs and assigns, be [illegible] that the before recited land and
bargained premises I will warrant and forever defend against the right
title claim interest and demand of all and every person or maner [sic]
of persons whatever;
in witness whereof I, the said Andrew ERWIN have hereunto set my hand
and affixed my seal the day and year above written;
signed, sealed, and delivered in the presence of witness

This deed of conveyance from Andrew Erwin to John EMMERSON for one
hundred and eight acres was duly proven in open court by the oaths of
Andrew DONNELSON and Henry GROVES, subscribing witness thereto, and
ordered to be registered, let it be registered.
