William D. Buck
William David Buck, 72, 303 Sawdust Trail, Roan Mountain, died Saturday,
November 19, 2005, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Buck was a native of Carter County and a son of the late William David and
Ada Ray Hoss Buck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six
sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Buck was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Roan Mountain Lodge No. 566 F.&A.M., a 32nd Degree Mason
and member of the Roan Mountain Water Commission.
Mr. Buck retired from Johnson Motor Line, Charlotte, N.C., and was a retired
teamster. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family and
will be greatly missed by all his many friends who knew and loved him. Rest in
peace, Bill Buck.
Survivors include his wife, Dolly Moore Buck, of the home, whom he married in
1956; three sons and daughters-in-law, William David and Cathy Buck, Concord,
N.C., Randy Allen and Sherry Buck, King, N.C., and Michael Todd and Renee Buck,
Concord, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carole Buck Drake and Jamie Drake,
Concord, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Marybell Orr, Johnson City.
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Buck will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, November
21, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with
Rev. John Stevens and Rev. Richard Stout officiating. The family will receive
friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, prior to the
service. Friends may also call at the residence, 303 Sawdust Trail, Roan
Mountain, at anytime. The graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m.
Tuesday, November 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those attending are asked
to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday to go in
procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Hagie, Leslie
Roberson, Gary McKinney, Larry McKinney, Chad Hagie and Douglas Richardson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Roan Mountain Breakfast Club.
