ZEBEDEE WILLIAMS
Zebedee Williams applied for revolutionary pension while living at Carthage,
Smith County, Tennessee, in 1818. His age is not given nor the place of his
birth. He enlisted in May, 1777, in Captain Dempsey Gregory's company, Colonel
Shepherd's 10th North Carolina regiment and was later transferred to Captain
Howell Tatum's North Carolina company. His term of enlistment, which was three
years, expired during the Siege of Charleston but he was imprisoned there during
the siege and was not released until some time in 1781.
