JOHN WILLIAMSON
John Williamson applied for revolutionary pension while living in Nashville,
Davidson County, Tennessee, in August, 1852. He was born October 27, 1759. He
enlisted in March, 1778, with John Fuqua while living in Halifax County,
Virginia, in the 1st regiment of the Virginia line under Captain Sharp, Major
John Purty, Colonel Hays and General Morgan. He enlisted for the duration of the
war and continued in service until September, 1781, when he was discharged. He
was in the battles of Cowpens, Guilford Court House, and at the Surrender at
Yorktown, where he was wounded in the neck. He lost his discharge papers in
April, 1828, when his house was burned. He married Cynthia Montgomery in May,
1816. He died in Davidson County, December 18, 1847. Cynthia Montgomery
Williamson survived him and died in Davidson County, about 1866.
