Ordered that certificates Issue on the County to the coroner for his fees on
Inquests held in the County where the estates of the Dec'd are not sufficient
to satisfy him.
The court have laid a County tax of three pence on every hundred acres of land
in said County and six pence on each Black poll liable to pay tax in said
county.
The Court have allowed the Clerk twenty five pounds for his Ex Officio
Services for the proceeding year which any collector or holder of County money
are required to pay him and be allowed the same in the settlement of their
accounts
The sheriff is allowed fifteen pounds for his extra services to be paid as
aforesaid for the preceeding year

-209 Delivered Daniel Canady 1 1/2 lbs Indigo @ 20 pr lb for which he is to

At a court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions begun and held for the County of Greene
at the court house in said county on the first Monday in Aug Anno Dom 1788
Present the worshipful
Joseph Hardin & John Newman Esqrs Court called and adjourned but did not
proceed to business-until tomorrow morning 9 oclock
Tuesday met according to adjournment
John McNabb, Alex Outlaw, Abraham McCoy & Alex Galbreath took the oath
necessary for the qualifications of Public Oficers and the oath of a Justice
of the Pece took their seats in court and proceeded to business
John McNary, Alex McGinty, David Allison, Archibald Roan & Joseph Hamilton
Esqrs took the oath of practising attorneys and were admitted accordingly
George Doherty Esqr took the oath appointed for the qualifications of Public
Officers and the oath of a Justice of the Peace and took his seat in Court and
proceeded to business
Andrew Jackson Esqr took the oath of a practising attorney

A mortage bond from Edward [?] to John Hill dated the 21st day of July 1788
for two tracts of land containing 200 acres each on Dumplin Creek joining
[?Trout & Frithesons?] land conditioned for payment of ninety-six pounds in
horse flesh at cash rates with interest on or before the 1st day of July 1790
was duly proven by the oaths of Arch Campbell and John Finn & So [?] witnesses
and admitted to record fees paid
On motion made and affidavit filed ordered that the Negro man named Tarter and
a Negro woman named Esther in the Public Gaol of this county be delivered to
Thomas Goff son to Thomas Goff Senr of Pitt County they appearing to the court
to be the property of said Thomas he discharging the fees due thereon
fees paid
David Kenedy entered into bond himself with James Rees Esqr & JOhn Hardin his
securities in the sum of 1000(pounds) for the full compliance of the duties
enjoined on him by an act for transmitting to the comptrollers office the
amount of taxable property in this county He also had his former bond
approved by the Court entered into at May Term
A Grand Jury called to witt disand not qualifying
The last will and testament of Peter King dec'd was duly proven by the oaths
of Edward Hughes, Jonas Kindrick & Margaret Kindrick his wife subscribing
witnesses and admitted to record

with Henty Conway and Hugh Beard for securities in the sum of five thousand
pounds for the due performance of the duties of his daid office Also took the
necessary oath prescribed by law
Thomas Brumley & Sam'l Dutton is duly appointed constables and took the oath
appointed for the qualification of Public Officers and the oath of constable
Thomas Brumley enters into bond himself with Alex Outlaw Esqr his security in
the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds for the faithful discharge of the
duties of his said office
Sam'l Dutton enters into bond himself with JOhn Finn his security in the sum
of two hundred and fifty pounds for the due preformance of the duties of his
said office
William Dawson & Edmond Crump is duly appointed constables and each took the
oath appointed for the qualification of Public Officers and the oath of a

William Conway from thence to the fork near the mouth of Bent Creek & that all
taxable in the former bounds work under.
Robert McCall is appointed overseer of the road from Greene County Court
house to Cotters at the Blue Spring and all taxable to do far a half way
between sd road and the river road work under under on the other side sd road
all within three miles & c
James Ashmore from thence to Bulls Gap and that all taxables as faras half way
between said road and the road leading to Riggs Mill and all in three miles
distance above work under him.
Jesse Haskins from thence to the fork of the road below Thomas Leas and that
all in the former bounds work under him.
Capt. Hutchins overseer of the road from the Blue Spings leading near his own
house to cross Lick Creek near Riggs MIll to PErry CReek and that all the men
on Lick Creek waters in the sd bounds work under him up Said creek to Grays

waters of Lick Creek except George Conway work under him - Alex Outlaw Esqr

Clemons & Shadrick Abbott 9if to be found in this county0 as may be sufficient
to defray the cost of his imprisoment in this County and make true report
thereoff to our next court.
James Richardson is impowered by the Court to contract for proper materials &
employ a workman to repair the court house and gaol of this county & state his
account for the same to our next court
