Judy, yes. Based on encouragement from this email group, I revisited th
Swenson Center a couple of months ago. I spent a couple hours going
through records with the Director. I had been there before, maybe 15 years
ago, but I had learned a few things about that branch of the family since
then that I thought might be helpful. We did not find anything specific
for my great grandfather. She did give me a couple of avenues to look for
possibilities and I am still pursuing those in addition to my general
search. For example, there were several Bloms whose immigration records
indicated they came to Moline or Rock Island. Some of those had
information about their parish in Sweden. I've checked those out to see if
I could find that person and also looked in that parish for my great
grandfather's birth record.
I'm open to all ideas.

Does your "system" include looking for a parish of birth at the Swenson
Swedish Immigration Research Center?

Thanks very much Bo. I could not read the middle name at all. I had no
idea it was Frederic. With my system, I can't allow any possibility to be
missed. If I go through several thousand records and fail to find him, I
don't want to be second guessing entries that were not perfect and not
investigated. Thanks again. Definitely not my ancestor.
