Th dictionaries in SweGGate are mainly for the genealogists, the words
that are found in church records and documents, the farms, military, legal terms, and the
really old words, and there's a very useful list of abbreviations which often were
used in writing and records.
The SAOB has 20 vols, it is huge and has quotations from literature where the words were
used. Sometimes understanding a whole sentence there is rather difficult, in this case I
saw " lot" and "hamn" and that's how it turned out to be the
"clue".to the "harbor pilots division head". I hope this is all ok.!
Just to clarify:
in this case the "s" after "lot" is not glue,
it's part of the word "lots", meaning "pilot".
