Hi Gene and Loretta,
Hmmm. AOL has actually delivered a list mail to my AOL mailbox. :-) I wonder
if this is a slipup on their part or if their rejection of list mails is over
for the moment.
Yes, I have been using the Arkion subscription to check the 1890 census. That
year of 1890 is the only transcription completed by Arkion so far. The online
database had been completed for quite a long time before the 1890 census cd
Therefore, I think it will be quite a while before other years come out on
cd, since none of the other years is listed as completed for the entire country
of Sweden. Parts of the country (and some counties more than others) are ready
to view on www.arkion.se
in years other than 1890.
I haven't yet mentioned but I think this is worthy of mention, especially for
those looking for Swedish relatives. You can post "comments" about specific
people found on Arkion. Below is an example of a comment written in English.
Notes are also written in Swedish and so far most are written in Swedish but
seem rather easy to interpret even if you don't know much Swedish. If nothing
else, you can tell that someone is looking for your ancestors and you will have a
way to contact him or her. These comments are linked to the page where the
person can be found on the census. You need to be a member to view and/or post
the comments, but you could have a short term membership to view/post and then
just join again once in a while to see if anyone has written something
pertaining to you. Those finding your comment could contact you by email, assuming
you keep that email address up-to-date.

Anyone doing research on this family, please contact me at

married my great-grandmother Agda O Johnson cir 1900.
This ability to post comments on the Arkion site is a strength of having an
online subscription as opposed to the 1890 cd. However, Elisabeth Thorsell (a
Swedish genealogist) demonstrated the new 1890 cd for us at the annual SAG
(Swedish American Genealogist) workshop in Salt Lake City last fall. It seems that
searching in the cd is easier than searching online.

Do you look for this 1880 census through the Arkion subscription
Are you aware of any Swedish census, other that the 1890, available on CD
