Im trying to find how my swedish ggrandparents got from Minn. to CA.
Background: Frank John (Franz Johan) HENDRICKSON, b 1846, Stockholm,
came to the US , possibly with a brother, leaving from Goteborg in
1865. Andrew (Anders) ANDERSON, wife Christine (?), with their family,
one child named Mary (Marie), b 1855 in the Varmland, and three other
children, came to the US in @ 1871. Frank and Mary married in Minn in
1872. Their first six children were born in Minn, in and around Rice
and Goodhue counties. Axel, b 1887 in Minn, next child Ruth b 1890 in
CA, place unknown. Next child born, 1892, in Paso Robles, San Luis
Obispo county; next 1894, Los Angeles, last one, 1903 probably in
Turlock. The two families came together.
Now, how do a big passel of people, at least ten, with small children,
get from Minn to CA somewhere between 1887 and 1890? Railroad? What
one? Anyone have any ideas?

They traveled by railroad. A couple of my husband's
lines came to
California at about this time, and they came by train. Ship to New York,
then train to California. I think everybody wanted to sight see in New
