I knew Wendell wasn't a Swedish name, at least I've never seen it
before. Coming up with the Nilsson was just a matter of finding each of
their birth records and confirming that all three had the same parents.
Their father was Nils, making them Nilssons, patronynmically speaking.
Often there was no rhyme or reason for the names people chose when the
abandoned their patronymic.

Well THANKS again Lois,
I continue to be blown away with the resources available for Swedish
genealogy. There can't be any other country where the records are made more
How in the world did you get from WENDELL to NILSSON in your search?
I've wondered about the Wendell name since it isn't a patronymic and doesn't
look like a military name. They must have just "picked it out of a phone
book" after their emigration ;-)
