I am not from Tucson, but I do see 6 centers in the area. Each would
presumably have different hours and holdings.
Have you thought of instead using the Tucson Public Library? It would have
Ancestry as you would at a FHC. In addition, it appears to have Heritage
Quest and an online obituary index. I can see that they have ProQuest and
other online newspaper, history, other databases as well. And, they'd have
on the shelves a far larger collection of books related to genealogy and
family history, newspapers, maps, etc. than any small FHC could possibly
provide. And PLs usually have longer hours than FHCs which are individually
staffed by (kind) volunteers. In most areas it's likely their hours are far
more limited than in a public library. (They are in my area and it's a
metropolitan area as well.)
I've had wonderful experiences in going out of town and stopping by the
Public Library to do research in that city ... Denver, Boston, Hartford,
Moultrie, GA (on a FL trip) -- all terrific, for example, as was L.A. You
never know what's going to be readily available to you on the shelves that
you can't get (easily) elsewhere, and you can always get to a FHC. But when
are you going to be able to get back to a larger city public library?
Main Library, Hours/Location
Note: While I don't see it specifically saying Ancestry, if you do a search
on their catalog for Ancestry.com
, it links to an online database, so it is
I see online that this Tucson Library has access to Ancestry and Heritage
Quest and a subscription to on an obituary collection. You might call and
see what else they have.
Have fun and good luck!

Subject: [SWEDEN] research in Tucson area
Are there any listers from the Tucson, AZ, area?
I'm going to be in Tucson for a couple weeks with my husband while
he's on business there and I was thinking about doing some research
during the day while he's at work. I was thinking of going to the FHC
to take advantage of the Ancestry world subscription the FHC's have to
access the Swedish records, since I only have US access for Ancestry
at home. (I know the FHC's in my area also have it, but when I'm home
I always have other things to do :-)
I see there are two Family History Centers in Tucson. Does anyone
have experience with either one of them? The one on Langley near
Broadway and Kolb is only about 2.5 miles from the hotel so, unless
the one up near Oro Valley is much better, that is where I plan on
Are there any other genealogy resources in the Tucson area?
Thank you for any advice
