Chris here from Oz. I found what I presume is your August and his wife and
two children on the Norwegian Digitalarkivet site. It looks as though they
returned to Sweden and were living there just prior to leaving Sweden. It
could be that August gave them the name of the parish he resided in prior to
moving to Norway and they just recorded it as the place of residence for the
whole family. Either way I'd be checking the parish records in Sweden. The
Norwegian records show the following information:
In 1872 August Andersen (possibly Andersson in Sweden), male, married,
labourer, 24 years old, resident of Skalleröd, Sweden, citizen of Sweden,
departed Oslo (Christiania) for New Zealand. The line was Høvding. The
same information is given for the other passengers accompanying him:
Amalie Andersen, female, married, 24 yrs;
Oline Andersen, female 6 years;
Samuel Andersen, it says female(?) 3 years
There is a small place called Skalleröd in Tanum kommun, Västra Götalands
län, Bohuslän Landskap. I cannot be certain but it looks like it is in Mo
parish. There is more than one parish called Mo so be sure you get the
films for the one in Tanum kommun. If it's not in Mo then possibly it is in
Naverstad parish, Tanum kommun.
Hope that information helps you to find him.

Hi Listers. I am from New Zealand and I would be grateful for assistance
in tracing my Swedish GG/Father.
August Julius Andersen was born in 1848 somewhere in Sweden. He moved to
Norway when a young lad and married Amalie Flink in Freidstadt, Norway on 2
April 1872 before sailing on the HØVDING to NZ on 30 May 1872 from
The passenger list states he was a farm labourer from the Interior.
Many thanks, Bill
