Many thanks for this, it is definitely my grandfathers family. We
intrigued by the address in New York Street, as we can find no reference
that street in any history of Brighton. The family lived mainly in
Hanover district of Brighton, does anyone have any ideas where New York
Street might have been?

It was about 500m east of the Brighton main railway terminus (which is there
now and was then) just below New England Street. You can also find where it

and search using BN1 4GH as a
post code. New York Street was between Ann St. and Cheapside just below the
