Kathy, I was busy concentrating on Edward STEER and parentage in my last
I have reread your e-mail and I am interested in your 1841 census comments.
I can't wait for 1841 census to come online with ancestry, soon I've been
''On the 1841 census for Pope Street, Eltham, Kent there is Edward STEER
('40') with George (11) and Robert (6). No Lucy, but there is a Lucy STEER
in the Sevenoaks Union (P. Inmate '45') which may tie up with the GRO death
record (Q4 1841 Sevenoaks Vol 5 P 286), which would also tie in with Edward
remarrying in 1842.''
This would appear to tie in, as you say. Hopefully correct.
Incidently, Thomas and Amelia LOVELAND are on the 1841 census in Westerham
with six children: Edward (14), Mary (13), Emily (6), Jane (5), Ellen (3),
N.K. (female, 1 week) all born Kent.
I wonder who the 'N.K. (female, 1 week)' was? All the other children I have
already, with the addition of Thomas LOVELAND born c 1832 and William Thomas
LOVELAND born c 1841
The 1841 Census date was Sunday 6th/7th June
So, looking for LOVELAND, birth Jun qtr 1841, Sevenoaks, brings up the
Male LOVELAND Jun qtr 1841 Vol V p391.
According to IGI there was a baptism in 1841 as follows.
WILLIAM THOMAS LOVELAND
Christening: 04 JUL 1841 Westerham, Kent, England
Father: THOMAS LOVELAND Mother: AMELIA
Looks like they had trouble telling what sex he was until a few weeks later!
