Frederick Strudwicke of the parish of Croydon, Bachelor and Jane Steer of this parish, Spinster, were married in this Church by license by me, Daniel Ross, Curate
Witnesses Mary Steer, Edwd Steer
We certify these registers to be a true copy
Legh Hoskins Master, Rector
Churchwardens John Palmer, Edwd Stear X
Details of this marriage have been posted to the list before.
Edwd STEER who witnessed the marriage was probably either Jane's father or her brother, the same would apply to the Edwd STEAR, churchwarden.
But if Edwd STEAR had to mark his name with a cross, how could he possibly certify that the registers were a true copy?
